2 SAILING LESSONS LEARNED PODCAST EPISODES

UK Sailmakers is introducing a new video podcast series, Sailing Lessons Learned, created to help sailors around the world up their games.

For over a decade, our website’s How To section has provided instructional videos, photos, and documents on a broad array of sailing topics. With Lessons Learned, we’re taking our instructional chops to a higher level by sharing conversations we have with winning sailors.

The first two episodes have already dropped. The first in an interview with UK Pacific Northwest’s Stewart Dahlgren discussing the 2022 Pacific Cup Race. Stuart skippered his Santa Cruz 70 WESTERLY to second in class and second overall in ORR. Topics covered in the podcast include WESTERLY’s sail inventory, sails built for the race, the sailing conditions as well as new ways of using performance data to improve helmsmanship and more.

In Episode #2, A SEASON FOR THE RECORD BOOKS, UK chats with long-time customer Andrew Weiss about his historic 2022 season racing his Italia 1198 CHRISTOPHER DRAGON on the east coast of the USA. In addition to his team’s class win in the Newport-to-Bermuda Race (4th in ORC), overall wins in the Lauderdale-Key West, Block Island and Edlu races, winning both the Tuna and North American Ocean Racing trophies, Weiss was on the podium in almost every event sailed.

Listen as Andrew describes how his boat set-up, sail selection, and rating optimization. Smile as he describes sailing with the same largely Corinthian crew and why sailing with professionals is unsustainable.

New episodes will drop every month.
