IRC UK National Championship: John Howell and Paul Newell’s A35 ARCUS won Class 3 as well as the overall title. Her upwind sails are Titanium and spinnakers are all UK Sailmakers Matrix cut.
J/80 German Open: Martin Menzner from Kiel was able to prevail after extreme light wind races and won with a full inventory of UK Sailmakers. Earlier this year, Menzer won his 12th J/80 class win at Kiel Week.
TBS Offshore Race, Sweden: This race was a Covid-19 adapted version of classic Åland Race. The overall winner was the X-362 VALKYRIE (above), skippered by Göran Ricking. Second place went to the Arcona 380 UTOPIA skippered by Gunnar Nordfeldt (right). Both boats equipped with X-Drive Carbon upwind sails and Matrix spinnakers.
Ukrainian Platu 25 National Championship: Rodin Luka, creator of the L30 One-Design and past Ukrainian Olympic sailor, took the series, beating the second-place boat by six points. Third place went to Volodimir Bindyugin, who won the first two races of the series sailing his boat REBEL. Both Luka and Bindyugin sailed with full inventories of UK Sailmakers’ X-Drive sails.
New York Yacht Club Annual Regatta: Tom Sutton’s J/109 LEADING EDGE took first place in ORC 3 and was second the week before in ORC 2 at the NYYC Race Week. She too sails with Titanium sails.
Vineyard Race. Adam Loory’s custom 40-footer SOULMATES won the doublehanded division and corrected to first in fleet beating all the fully crewed boats racing under PRHF in this annual 240-mile distance race on the East Coast of the United States. This was the first time ever that a doublehanded boat finished first in fleet. SOULMATES’ Titanium main just finished its fifth full season of racing and her A2 shown above is seven years old.
